The Road Legal 4WD Trail Guide Ambassador program is one of our top volunteer programs that you can help out with! Since 2002 the Trail Ambassador program has helped keep many trails open and growing across multiple recreations. The Road Legal 4WD Association joined the Trail Ambassador program in 2018 as Division 2 for Wisconsin, as we know it takes volunteers to keep our trails open and rides going!
Trail Patrol - Trail Guide Ambassadors patrol trails in groups of 2 or more rigs. They volunteer to provide trail reports, help local law enforcement, assist land managers, and assist local clubs to keep trails open.
Rides - Being a certified Trail Guide Ambassador allows you to host rides and tours that can be sanctioned by our association. Our goal is to provide members and their friends with responsible tours of local trails in a safe and managed environment.
Our goal is to provide our members with quality guides through fun adventures as often as possible. Trail Guide Ambassadors may be responsible for areas of a trail, a specific group of rigs, or they may float where needed. Trail Guides will coordinate with the local chapters about when and where they are guiding.
To become a Trail Guide Ambassador, you must take the Trail Guide Ambassador certification course. This can be done on-site at a training session, or online with an on-site test out. We'll also be offering periodic Trail Guide Ambassador refresher courses and Trail Guide Ambassador only events for training.
Requirements - All Trail Guide Ambassadors must pass a criminal background check. We will not allow people into the Trail Guide Ambassador program if they have recent violence, alcohol, drugs, or sexual history on public record.
Benefits - Besides helping keep trails open, Trail Guide Ambassadors that fulfill monthly trail reports, will enjoy free membership dues, free or reduced event fees, free or reduced camping fees, and the ability to host events on our private trails we build and maintain.
Pages - Trail Guide Ambassadors are listed in our directory and you'll be able to control your content and rides you want to host. The RL4WD will help you promote and manage your rides, paperwork, and alike. Feel free to team up with other Ambassadors when going on rides and tours. RL4WD will help you in any way we can and you will not be forced into helping at events, volunteering is 100% optional when you have time!
Not sure you have enough experience to become a Trail Guide Ambassador? We don't require you to know a lot about recovery or mechanics, those things can be taught, we do ask that before you sign up, that you have time to go out at least a few times a year to patrol or host rides.
